Irma%20Turtle.gifThe journey I'm taking is being organized by TurtleWill, an inspiringly dedicated and nimble NGO focused on bringing health and well-being to the nomadic people of Africa's Sahel desert.  The organization's founder, Irma Turtle, is a former advertising executive who fell in love with the region after a trip there over 20 years ago.  Since that time, she's become what Chris Coyne calls "a queen of the desert", bringing health and joy to all she encounters there.

On the particular journey I'm going, I'll be a volunteer on one of their health care caravans.  The trip will take three weeks and will travel between Bamako, the nation's capital, and go all the way to Timbuktu.  (Yep, you read that right: visit Mali and you actually are that far away.)  A typical TurtleWill medical mission serves over 2,000 people during its tour.  For me, that's a lot of new friends and one giant learning opportunity!

Take a moment to learn more about TurtleWill, then consider giving a donation.  Join me as a Member and you'll receive a copy of the beautiful book To Life in the Small Corners.

Mali 2008

mali_map_small.jpgI've often said that my "blind spot" thus far in both business and personal growth was not having much international exposure.  Well, an upcoming opportunity to visit Mali, one of the poorest, yet most culturally and historically rich countries in Africa, will certainly open my eyes to several things.
